Adult and Family Classes
These are regular weekly classes that follow the NSW school term. Classes run every week until Christmas, and recommence in February. Weekly classes will teach you the basics of creating both functional and decorative ceramics. You will learn a range of patterning and texturing techniques, how to attach handles and other decorative elements, clay carving techniques, and several glazing techniques appropriate to the pieces you create. Throughout the term, you will also gain a basic understanding of loading kilns for bisque and glaze firings.
Classes run for two hours, however the studio is open 30 mins prior to class to allow set-up time, and doors stay open for up to an hour after class to allow time to finish more detailed work.
Kids classes
After School Classes
After school pottery classes run weekly on Monday or Wednesday, following the school term. Each session begins at 4 pm and runs for 1 hour. Children will complete several set projects during the course, using mainly hand-building techniques. We will also use several different types of clay and learn about what makes each type different. All work will be glazed during class sessions, and be ready to take home at the end of each month.
School Holiday Workshops
Our School Holiday workshops are a great way for kids to explore their creativity in a relaxing environment. Playing with mud is something every child seems drawn to, and with our pottery workshops, that ‘mud’ can become something unique that they can treasure forever. During the school holiday workshops, we learn about clay, where clay comes from and how it is different from normal ‘mud’, we learn how ‘mud’ becomes ‘pottery’. Maximum class size is six children, so booking is essential!
Studio Space Hire
Studio space hire is perfect for potters who don’t have access to their own wheel, or who may simply wish to ply their craft with other like minded artists. Our studio is set up to foster a community spirit, and offers a number of Venco pottery wheels, a variety of wheel throwing and hand building equipment, a wedging table, and many different glazes.
